Vikings on Board

Prepare yourself for the season of exploration! Vikings on Board is a big box, family strategy game in which you will use your Viking tokens to claim actions on the board which best benefit your clan's voyage. The ships are composed of several different segments, which switch from ship to ship based on the actions you claim. Your goal is to have the most of your clan's pieces on a ship when it set sail, to claim the biggest portion of its points. Pay close attention: your rivals will be eager to change the composition of your ships, as well as the value of their merchandise!

Deep within the rain forests of the Yucatan, rival teams of treasure hunters have recently discovered the lost city of Codinca. In the center of the once great citadel stands a stone temple. Local legends tell of great treasures that lie buried beneath the temple, but despite many weeks of searching no doorway has been found.

On the top of the temple stands a square stone altar. A small totem stands in the center of this, surrounded by a pattern of sixteen carved tiles. Examining them closely you discover an intricate series of mechanisms which allow the tiles to switch places and turn over, which reveals that each tile has a stone side and a gold side. Carvings on each side of the pillar indicate that a sequence of four key patterns must be made with the tiles to open the temple. Can you be the first to unlock the secrets of Codinca?

In Anaxi, players are presented with category prompts, and they want to think of words or phrases that fit multiple categories at the same time — but without matching another player's answers.

In each of five rounds, players draw a single blue, red and orange card. These round cards have clear plastic on one-third of them and a word written on the other two-thirds. Players overlap these cards on a scoring chart that shows the value of a word or phrase that encompasses two or three of these categories. Players have a limited amount of time to write down as many words or phrases as they can for each pair of categories and for all three categories. They then compare answers and score points for those answers unique to themselves.

Whoever has the most points after five rounds wins!

Juxtabo features 126 discs, each with one of seven colors on one side and a different color on the other side. Several discs are chosen randomly to form a grid to start the game, and each player receives seven discs as his hand. Players also receive two challenge cards, each of which shows a pattern consisting of either three or four discs.

The idea is to find the card pattern somewhere in the grid. A player may use his discs to change the colors in the grid. For example, one color in the grid, say, blue, does not match the color he needs, say, orange, to complete the pattern. He can play a disc with a blue side on top of the blue disc in the grid. If the other side of the played disc is orange, then he is done. If not, he can add one or more discs to the same stack in the same fashion until the grid pattern matches the card pattern.

Draw new challenge cards as you complete them. Replenish to seven discs at the end of your turn and play until all discs have been used and no one can make a match.
