What's good, my buddies? Your pal Jess here, with a short report on our first annual GAME-A-THON! When Linda and I started thinking about this year's Tabletop Day back in February, we knew right away we wanted to do more than a regular day of gaming. We had kicked around the idea of a game marathon in the past and, with April being Autism Awareness Month, the timing couldn't be sweeter. Wheels were set in motion, the campaign launched and we couldn't be prouder of all our friends and supporters. You guys catapulted us past our goal by over a thousand dollars!
It being our first year, I wasn't really sure how many people to expect and when. Thank goodness we had planned for some overflow tables, gamers showed up AS we opened at 9 AM!
There was a list of games to play for prizes generously supplied by USAopoly, Asmodee and many others. Some folks paced themselves and played lighter titles like Seven Wonders (above) to avoid burnout. Other people took the opportunity for hours of uninterrupted gaming to break out the big boxes (The Gallerist, below)
Many longtime friends of the store stopped by to support our brave marathoners. Thanks to Scott from Rio Grande Games and Nate from Gigamic, who brought demos and taught games and are generally rad dudes.
New friends and old, it was awesome to game alongside you. We'll be sending the $2,537 raised along to Autism Society Of Illinois, a terrific organization that would appreciate your support all year long.
