We're Turning ONE, and We're Having a Party!
Wits & Wagers Game Show

We're coming up on our first anniversary, and we have to say it's been a fantastic first year! To celebrate we're hosting an evening of pure fun on Friday, September 11th with a Wits & Wagers Game Show. Wit's & Wagers is the awesome trivia betting game that even the trivia-challenged can enjoy! If you're not familiar with the game, The Dice Tower has a nice video overview of the game.

Our game-show hostess for the evening will be the lovely Beth, shown here recruiting for her team during the W&W event at Origins 2009. The event is free, BYOB, we'll have snacks, and we'll be giving away several copies of the new Wits & Wagers expansion packs, so what's not to love? Grab a friend and get ready for a night of laughter and fun. We hope to see you Friday night!

The pools are closed and the kids are back in school, which means we need to clear out the summer games (exluding kites) to make room for new items. And since it's been hotter this week than it has been for most of the summer, I suspect we'll still be able to enjoy outdoor games for a while.

So what do we have left? We've got dart ball, Uber Darts, washer ring toss, hoppy balls, jump ropes, frisbees, playground balls, and more. Settlers of Catan & Dominion Tournaments
Saturday, October 3 at Luther Con

As part of Luther Con, the new Chicago gaming convention, Cat & Mouse Game Store is running two tournaments: Settlers of Catan and Dominion.

Settlers of Catan Tournament, 10 am - 2 pm

Event Description: Settlers of Catan is one of the most popular Euro-style strategy board games around. In this tournament, everyone will play 2 games, the top 8 players will advance to a semifinal round, then the top 4 will play a final round. Will you be the victor and win the title of Lord or Lady of Catan? Whether you've been playing Settlers for years or are relatively new to the game, this will be a fun opportunity for a little friendly competition!

ENTRY FEE: Entry fee for the tuornament is $5, of which 100% will go toward the Prize Fund. Top 4 places will win Gift Certificates to the store. Additional Prizes TBD.

Dominion Tournament, 1 pm - 5 pm

The tournament will test one's playing skill through rounds of 4 player competition. The top two finishers from each table will advance to the next round, until there are only two players left. These two will battle it out in a "Best of 3 game" Championship Round, the winner of which will be crowned THE ULTIMATE DOMINION CHAMPION.

There will also be a Consolation Prize Tournament for those eliminated early on. So rest assured, there will be plenty of Dominion fun for everyone!

For those who have always been curious to try out the game, there will be a demoing of the game from 10am to 12:30 PM the day of the tournament. Or you can always come to Cat & Mouse on one of our game nights, and our staff will gladly show you how to play.

The tournament will take place at 1PM sharp (Please arrive at least a half hour early)
