Game night is every Tuesday from 6:30 - 10:00 pm. We also having open gaming on most Sundays from 11am - 5pm.
People usually play strategy games such as Dominion, Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Pandemic, etc. Most people like to get a few games in during the evening, and so they generally play games that take 1-2 hrs. or less to finish. We have a large library of demo games, and you're welcome to play anything they like from our collection or bring your own game.
Good question! All of our demo games are listed here on Boardgamegeek.com.
Let us know in advance, and we'll have it set up and ready to go when you arrive. We'll also sit down and teach you how to play, and even rope other people into playing with you if needed!
Either one works. Game night is a very casual, non-competitive environment and we make it easy for singles to sit in on a game with complete strangers. None of the players bite! We do recommend that you arrive as close to 6:30 pm as possible, though, so that you can get in at the start of a game.
No, there is no charge for open gaming or game nights.
We're happy to put on a pot of regular coffee and share it with you for free. We also sell sodas and juices, and we're happy when you buy them. But it's OK if you want to bring in your own drink because you don't drink anything other than XYZ-brand or because you must have your daily half-caf-triple-no-whip-extra-space-coffee-thingy. We understand!
You say you want a beer or wine? Well, we won't share the stash we sometimes keep in the employee fridge, but if you want to bring your own that's fine. Be warned, though, that if you're drinking and get obnoxious, we won't hesitate to vote you off the island and ask you to leave.
As for food, we do sell snacks like chips, trail mix, and candy, and we kindly ask that customers refrain from bringing outside food into the store.
Most of the people who attend game night are adults without children, but parents are welcome to bring along their kids ages 10 and up (or thereabouts - mostly they just need to be able to sit down at a table and concentrate on a board game for the length of your visit.)
