We really love games...and that's why we, local owners Linda Schmidt and Andre LeMoine, opened Cat & Mouse in September 2008.

We have a LOT of games

We currently have over 600 unique game titles in stock, from games for young children to advanced strategy games for adults, and we continuously expand our selection. We read reviews, talk to customers and manufacturers, play tons of demo copies of board games, and attend conventions to find the very best in games and make them available at our store in Chicago.  In addition to board games, we carry such classics as chess, backgammon, and Go; Heroscape and Dungeons and Dragons miniatures; Magic; and Pokemon.  If we don't have what you're looking for let us know, 'cause we always like to hear about what kind of games people want.

We all like different things. So tell us what you like or don't like, and we can help with recommendations! To help you select games that are perfect for you, we:

• Highlight the new releases
• List the previous month's best sellers
• Host events where you can learn games that you've never played before
• Provide our best recommendations based on your preferences

We also have a LOT of puzzles

We carry jigsaw puzzles, brainteasers, tavern puzzles, wooden puzzles, crosswords and other puzzle books, and more!  We have puzzles for kids, for adults, for anyone who likes to keep their brain engaged and sharp.  Jigsaw puzzle brands we carry include Educa, Piatnik, Ravensburger, Sunsout, Pomegranate, and Ceaco in a variety of styles and piece counts.

Gift Certificates

Cat & Mouse gift certificates are available in any denomination.  If you can't stop by the store to pick one up in person, we'd be happy to take your information over the phone and mail it to the recipient.  Just give us a call at 773-384-4454.

* Details on Special Orders & Pre-Orders

Yes, we take special orders.  If there's a game or puzzle you're looking for that we don't have in the store, we'll be happy to order it for you.  If it's something that can be obtained from one of our main distributors, we can usually have it for you in less than a week, with no shipping or handling charges.  If it's something that needs to be ordered from a more specialized vendor, we'll let you know what the expected delivery time and terms will be prior to finalizing your order.

If there's a new game coming out, we're happy to take your pre-orders starting 2-3 months before its expected release date.   We'll take down your order and your contact info, then notify you when your game is expected to arrive in the store.  We'll hold the pre-ordered copy for you for 1 week.  If you don't come into the store to purchase the game after a week, we'll release it for sale to others.
